ABOUT

Not Just Games, But Reasons To Reconnect

We don’t sell games; we sell that one warm memory you had with your best friends before you all drifted apart.

What separates our first game, Threnody for Archaea, from other tabletop games isn’t just its deep lore, brutal mechanics, and storytelling with boldly controversial elements and themes—it’s that every session is designed to feel like sitting down with the friends you grew up with, even if you’re now scattered across the world.

Every game from every manufacturer around the world provides some form of escapism, but our work provides a specific, signature resonance. We took over seven years to engineer classical storytelling archetypes that echo with meaning, sacrifice, and memory into a multi-consequential landscape with differing play modes that maximize the emotional bonds you form with your fellow players in a way that doesn’t require you to sacrifice your responsibilities in real life.

In the games that we at Dark Loch Studios produce, players aren’t just heroes—they’re part of living myths resonating in worlds built on brutal realism that reward emotional investment. This isn’t about forgetting the real world—it’s about remembering who you and your friends were before life drove you apart and modern politics watered down the storytelling.

A New Battle System

We innovated a new battle and character creation system that keeps turns going around the table at a pace that makes sense for busy adults.

Consequential Characters

Create lasting characters quickly that leave lasting consequences throughout an interactive and multi-ending story, even after they die.

Who Is Dark Loch Studios (DLS)?

We are parents and spouses.

We are schoolteachers, businessmen, physicists, security guards, and programmers. Some of us are from Australia while others are from America, or Sweden, or even Japan.

We are a ragtag group of people from all over the world, who live our own separate lives, who built this game in our spare time over the process of over seven years, little by little.

We would meet regularly on Discord, usually on a weekly basis—bonding on the shared desire to relive nostalgic emotions that we felt in our teen years, but with an innovative twist that we’d now like to share with you and yours.
